Apollo 13: a “successful failure.”
Fifty-six hours into the April 1970 mission, an oxygen tank exploded and crippled the spacecraft. Working with Mission Control, the crew used the Lunar Module as a lifeboat — improvising ways to conserve power, scrub carbon dioxide and navigate home through four cold, resource-starved days. They splashed down safely on April 17. Extraordinary problems, solved under pressure, by a team with nothing but focus.
